Jessica Kennedy B.A., SPED 
Co-founder
 

Jessica Kennedy is a licensed K–6 Elementary Teacher and K–12 Special Education Teacher with extensive experience supporting diverse learners across a wide range of academic and developmental profiles. Her work has included supporting students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, autism, selective mutism, traumatic brain injuries (TBIs), chromosome disorders, ADHD/ADD, and other complex learning and executive functioning needs.

With 19 years of experience, Jessica has worked across a variety of educational settings, including general education classrooms, resource services, self-contained programs, inclusion environments, and 1:1 language development services. She specializes in integrative, multisensory instruction that blends structured literacy, math intervention, and executive functioning support into cohesive, individualized learning plans.

Jessica is trained at the associate level in the Orton-Gillingham approach. She has also completed training in Multisensory Math, Saxon Math, Letterland, LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling), Zones of Regulation, and executive functioning frameworks. She is deeply committed to structured literacy, multisensory learning, and evidence-based practices that empower students to access curriculum in meaningful and successful ways.

Jessica was honored as Teacher of the Year at her previous school and was recognized at the state level as a Special Education Educator of Excellence by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. These recognitions reflect her dedication to student growth, collaboration with families, and her belief that every learner is capable of success when provided with the right support.

Carey French, M.A., A/OGA 

Co-founder

Carey French holds a Master’s in Reading Education (K–12), an undergraduate multi-subject (K–8) degree, and preschool certification. With 25+ years in education, she has taught classrooms, led small groups in reading, writing, and math, and provided targeted literacy interventions to students at all proficiency levels. Carey focuses on building strong foundational skills in reading, writing, and math during early learning. Her instruction, grounded in the science of reading, structured literacy, and multisensory learning principles, is tailored to each student's learning profile through ongoing assessment.

Carey is an Associate-level member of the Orton-Gillingham Academy (A/OGA) and has completed advanced training in Structured Literacy, Fundations, The Writing Revolution, and OG-aligned multisensory mathematics instruction that strengthens number sense and conceptual understanding. She specializes in supporting students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ADHD, and executive functioning challenges. Carey delivers explicit, systematic, and multisensory instruction designed to strengthen core academic skills while fostering confidence, independence, and long-term learning success.

Beyond her direct work with students, Carey maintains an active membership in professional reading organizations and two international professional educator honor societies. She regularly participates in professional development and engages with current research and professional literature to continually refine her instructional practice and remain current in educational research and innovation. Carey’s dedication to student learning has also been recognized through numerous professional honors, including the Johnson Academic Center Rhyne Award, two Teacher of the Year recognitions (including county-level finalist), and other awards celebrating excellence in teaching and educational impact.
